Laser Assisted Hatching (LAH)

What is Laser Assisted Hatching (LAH)?

Laser Assisted Hatching (LAH) is an advanced embryology technique where a precise, computer-guided laser beam is used to create a small thinning or opening in the zona pellucida (the outer shell) of an embryo before it is transferred into the uterus.Time-Lapse Embryo Monitoring involves culturing embryos inside a specialized incubator (an EmbryoScope+) that has a built-in, high-resolution camera. This camera takes pictures of the embryos every 5-10 minutes, creating a continuous video of their entire development from a single cell to a blastocyst, all without removing them from the ideal incubator conditions.Endometrial Rejuvenation involves using Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, derived from your own blood, to promote growth and regeneration of the endometrium. The growth factors in PRP are injected into the uterine cavity to stimulate cellular repair and improve thickness and blood flow

Q:  Does assisted hatching damage the embryo?                                                                                                                                                                                                               A:  When performed by experienced embryologists, the risk of damaging the embryo is extremely low. The laser is incredibly precise..

Q: Who is a good candidate for assisted hatching?                                                                                                                                                                                                          A:  It is often recommended for women over 38, those with a previous failed IVF cycle, or when the embryo’s outer shell appears thickened under the microscope.

Q:  Is there any risk of identical twins with assisted hatching?                                                                                                                                                                                      A:  There is a theoretical but very slight increased risk of monozygotic (identical) twinning. However, the overall benefits often outweigh this minimal risk.

Q:  What are my next steps?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          A:  Your next step is to schedule a consultation to discuss whether LAH could improve your chances of success. • Cutting-Edge Technology: We use a modern, computer-controlled laser system that offers unparalleled precision and safety.
  • Selective Application: We recommend LAH only when it is truly indicated, such as for older patients, those with a thickened zona, or frozen embryo transfers.
  • Skilled Embryologists: The procedure is performed by our expert embryologists with extensive experience in laser techniques.
  • Enhanced Outcomes: This add-on procedure can be a simple step that makes a significant difference in implantation success for selected cases.
